+1 Microsoft
Microsoft supports the value proposition of MicroProfile, especially open standard enterprise Java, and thus enthusiastically endorses
this significant feature release. In addition to this support, I want to share two additional aspects of Microsoft's position.
Telemetry is a foundational cloud-native app factor and the OpenTelemetry standard is the clear winner for telemetry on hyperscale clouds.
Because Microsoft is a member of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation and OpenTelemetry is an incubating
project at CNCF, Microsoft wants to enable MicroProfile to work as seamlessly as possible with OpenTelemetry. Because MicroProfile Telemetry 5.0 does not currently provide native support for OpenTelemetry, but does provide an integration layer with Prometheus,
we accept its inclusion in MicroProfile 6.0. Microsoft supports future efforts to improve native OpenTelemetry support in a near-term future release of MicroProfile.
Microsoft believes the act of MicroProfile declaring required support for Jakarta EE 10 Core Profile is essential to the success of MicroProfile
and Jakarta EE. This declaration creates clarity in the marketplace that Jakarta EE 10 is a solid foundation on which to build applications. Enterprises can feel confident in their choice of Jakarta EE with MicroProfile to bring the compatibility enterprises
expect with the innovation they need to continue to create value with Java on the cloud.
