[mdt.dev] Fwd: [cross-project-issues-dev] Trivia #47: How many years has there been a Simultaneous Release on the fourth Wednesday of June?
|
Team,
Please see details below on how plans for the Helios coordinated release are starting to take shape. In particular, please ensure that the information about participating projects is correct (e.g. is UML2 Tools really going to be on the train) and make sure you are aware of this year's list of requirements.
Cheers,
Kenn

Ha, trick question! Only 2. Prior to
Ganymede, they were on the fourth _Friday_ of June.
But, we are well on our way to our third
(or ... fifth), Helios, scheduled for release on June 23, 2010.
The Planning Council has published their
detailed Plan for Helios,
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Helios_Simultaneous_Release
Which includes the ever popular "requirements
document",
http://www.eclipse.org/helios/planning/EclipseSimultaneousRelease.php
There are some tweaks still required,
a few reference links to improve, but the substance is accurate.
I have copied the previous "participating
projects" page from last year, to serve as a starting point,
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Helios/Participating_Projects
And, sorry, but with the editing tools
I had, I could not "move rows" in the wiki, and preserve the
hyperlinks that people had so painstakingly put there. In fact, I'd hold
off making too many fancy edits to this page ... it may undergo other large
"reorganizations" in the month ahead.
But, its a start!
So, what's new this year? Well, those
are mostly marked with "[new this year]" and there's not many.
But the "requirements" have been written to try and better explain
why something is required. (In fact, I wrote so much, some have already
asked for a summary. :)
There is also a new emphasis on streamlining
the release reviews, by having more data "rolled up" as much
as possible, so be sure to check with your Top Level Project on how your
projects will address this.
There will be information about "build"
improvements and a "reporting web application" in the month or
two ahead, but other than that, if anyone has any immediate questions,
feel free to ask.
Anyone "new" this year interested
in joining in?
