I actually did not know that Jersey was also contributed to Eclipse but that totally makes sense!

Since Apache Wink was discontinued, I thought of Jersey as the primary candidate for migrating to. There actually was a problem of using Wink client, but seems like JAX-RS 2.0 has added a client spec too. Finally, in JAX-RS 3.0 there is a plan for supporting apps JAX-RS apps outside the servlet container. Finally, our users who wanted to run Lyo in the IDEs &c. won’t have to run embedded Tomcat/Jetty any more (once JAX-RS is released and implemented and we migrate to it :)!

Editor's Note

Welcome to the second Jakarta EE newsletter. This time around, we focused on the technology side of things. We have great articles contributed by technical experts involved in the Jakarta EE community:

On a personal and professional note, I am leaving my position at this Eclipse Foundation this month, which means that this is my last time editing the Eclipse Newsletter. I won't even get to press the giant red send button at the end of this month to deliver it to your inboxes. It is with mixed feelings that I say goodbye to this newsletter that I started in February 2013. It certainly looks different from that first issue, and the fact its grown from 0 to almost 300,000 subscribers is something I’m proud of. The newsletter will go on without me and I look forward to seeing it grow and improve in the future.
