[lyo-dev] [ACTION REQUIRED] Remove and re-import OSLC4J projects after rename (was: Re: Any objections to changing OSLC4J project names?)
|
You will need to remove the OSLC4J projects from your workspace before your next git pull, then re-import.
Mike Fiedler has reviewed the change, and we're going ahead with the project renames. I plan to commit it in about 30 minutes. Here are the steps you need to take if you have the OSLC4J projects loaded. This impacts the lyo.core, lyo.rio, and lyo.docs repositories.
1) Back up any work you have made! Git stash is good, but you might also manually copy the projects somewhere else just in case.
2) Remove the projects from your Eclipse workspace. Right-click on the projects and select delete. DON'T delete the project contents from disk :) Leave that checkbox unchecked.
3) Do a git pull.
4) Re-import the projects from the Git repository view.
If you missed my email and didn't delete the projects, you will see some errors in EGit after you pull. This should be OK. You can still remove and re-import the projects.
Let me know if you have any concerns about this change. Last chance! :)

Hi Samuel,
Yes I think it is a good idea to follow the naming conventions of Eclipse projects. But I have a suggestion for Lyo project names: I think rather to:
* org.eclipse.lyo.oslc4j.core
* org.eclipse.lyo.oslc4j.provider.jena
* org.eclipse.lyo.oslc4j.provider.json4j
* org.eclipse.lyo.oslc4j.wink
* ...

I am considering changing the OSLC4J project names to match the conventions used elsewhere in Lyo. So instead of
OSLC4J/
we'd have
org.eclipse.lyo.core.oslc4j/
(and the same for the other dozen or so projects). Does anyone object?
If you have these projects loaded, you will probably need to remove them from your Eclipse workspace and re-import them. We will also need to update the Lyo wiki pages and Hudson build scripts for the new names.
