I still find it odd about the EPSG dataset; it would be nice is that dataset adopted a modern license.

One of the major recent changes was the project split around the EPSG

I am self nominating (which is a bit sad) as a project lead on LocationTech
Proj4J so the project keeps living.
Folks are still using it. It's one of the most important and lightweight GIS
java libraries.
