There's a fine difference: back in 2016 jdt-ls was based on stock JDT.
By contrast, jdt-javac is a competitor of a central part of JDT.
That's not the same relationship.

I disagree on your interpretation of my statement (hint: I was commenting on the
matter whether arguments for jdt-ls could be applied to jdt-javac without any
changes).
Instead of debugging this part of the conversation, let me ask about the planned
status: I assume that jdt-javac would start as an incubating project?
If so, then much of what I'd like to see discussed can be postponed to the
graduation review (if any). At that point I'd expect that the project
demonstrates two things: (1) quality similar to other JDT components - or better
:) - in terms of feature completeness, correctness, performance; and (2) added
value.
