There's a particular group of users who like to execute their tests from their IDE, on mobile, or even from gaming systems. On these a command line is either not available at all or doesn't work optimally. 

I'm not among those users, but I do somehow understand that tests can be made friendly towards those environments (without of course letting them depend on it). Arquillian for example did have several IDE integrations / setup instructions for Eclipse in the past.
