[jakartaee-platform-dev] Revised top-level dates for EE 12?

Hi there,

I am sorry I won't be able to attend the Jakarta EE Platform Committer team meeting tomorrow, but on behalf of the Jakarta EE Steering Committee, I would like solicit input for the forthcoming Jakarta EE Working Group plan, for 2026. The CY 2026 plan is supposed to be finalized and adopted by the Steering Committee by Nov. 1 and I am seeking the Platform committer team's input in pursuit of that goal.

Currently (In the working group plan for 2025), we have detailed the following, high-level targets for EE 12:

  • Jakarta EE 12 Goals
    • Current target - H1CY2026
    • Current target - Java SE 21 and 25
    • Specification updates as determined by the Platform Project, Spec Committee with input from Jakarta EE Future Direction Interest Group
  • Update Jakarta EE Roadmap with Jakarta EE 12 plan in Q1 [of 2025]
  • Drive creation/updates/progress to standalone specification releases
  • Collaborate with Jakarta EE Future Direction Interest Group

My primary interest is to ask if the Platform Committer team wants to update the EE 12 goals for the 2026 Program Plan. (Dates, Any of these additional detail points, etc.)

The CY 2025 working group plan is available at this link. The bullet points from above are on Slide 6 and the tracking page, immediately following is intended to reflect quarterly progress and are updated during the year. (In case not everyone has access to this document, I've included screenshots below, of slides 6 and 7 should you wish to review them).

Jared and James, if I could as you to please review these goals with the committer team. Then please let me know if you have any revisions to the goals from 2025 for 2026. If so, please convey them to me so that I can incorporate the new/revised goals into the CY 2026 working group plan. If you have no changes, I'm happy to just carry the 2025 goals forward to 2026. We typically revise these goals as needed during the calendar year though we do want them to reflect our best assessment as of the time we generate them.
