Re: [jakarta.ee-spec] [BALLOT] Plan Review for Jakarta Persistence 3.2

As a Jakarta EE Specification Committee member, I request the voting period for this ballot to be extended until all eligible members have voted within a maximum of 30 days according to the EFSP (https://www.eclipse.org/projects/efsp/?version=1.3#efsp-committee-approvals).

-1 (Tomitribe) as we’re not confident marking java.util.Date as deprecated is a good idea.

It’s heavily used by 90% of existing entities and java.util.Date itself is not deprecated in Java 20 (though it does have many deprecated methods).  We’ll probably need to get more involved in the project to gain that confidence and better understand if it will be deprecated in Java 21.

We greatly appreciate the well-written plan review.

Greetings Jakarta EE Specification Committee,

I request your vote to approve and ratify the plan for Jakarta Persistence 3.2.

The JESP/EFSP requires a successful ballot of the Specification Committee in order to approve the plan of this release (as defined in the EFSP).

The relevant materials are available here:

https://github.com/jakartaee/specifications/pull/625
- https://deploy-preview-625--jakartaee-specifications.netlify.app/specifications/persistence/3.2/

Per the process, this will be a seven-day ballot, ending on Monday, June 19, 2023, that requires a Super-majority positive vote of the Specification Committee members (note that there is no veto). Community input is welcome, but only votes cast by Specification Committee Representatives will be counted.

The Specification Committee is composed of representatives of the Jakarta EE Working Group Member Companies (Fujitsu, IBM, Oracle, Payara, Tomitribe, Red Hat, and Shandong Cvicse Middleware Co.), along with individuals who represent the EE4J PMC, Participant Members, and Committer Members.

Specification Committee representatives, your vote is hereby requested. Please respond with +1 (positive), 0 (abstain), or -1 (reject). Any feedback that you can provide to support your vote will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ivar
