Past business / action items:

  • Approval is requested for the meeting minutes from the June 1st, 2022 meeting as drafted - Approved.

  • Now is the time that the Specification Committee works with the proposal team to get the proposal into a state where they are ready to lock it down and start an approval ballot

Emily has agreed to be the Spec Comm mentor for Jakarta Data

Feedback from Tomitribe was passed on to the project team, ee-spec discussion list


  • “Parking lot” items from previous meetings, deferred to get to after EE 10 release is done

Ivar to open a PR for the update

Specification Committee members are encouraged to review the EFSP 1.3 and provide input on the PR

  • How to handle optional features in Specifications

    • From July 14th, 2021 - For background see proposal from Dan, Kevin & Scott

    • From August 25th, 2021  - See ballot results for the “RESOLUTION: The Jakarta EE Specification Committee resolves that no new optional features may be added in Jakarta EE 10 and beyond in component, Platform, or Profile specifications.”

  • “TCK Archive Format”, see [jakarta.ee-spec.committee] [External] : Re: TCK archive format? (Consider allowing JAR or ZIP)

  • Annual Reviews - Specification Projects must engage in at least one Progress or Release Review per year while in active development

  • Ed proposed that a focus area is simplification and automation (where possible), re-engage with initiative that was getting underway in the early days of EE 10


Proposal to use a Github issues (Spec Committee repo) to document and track these items - https://github.com/jakartaee/specification-committee/issues

Spec Committee requested open any issues that are areas to improve post EE 10, Paul to open issues for the topics referenced above starting with “optional features”
