Re: [jakarta.ee-spec] BALLOT: Approval to create the JakartaMVCSpecification Project

Personally I think MVC should be added as an optional part of Jakarta EE. The pendulum may not really swing back to server-side web frameworks for a while. Adding it as a required part of the platform may add needless bloat.

When we did the original Java EE 8 survey, only a slim majority (I think about 55%) wanted MVC. I wager that percentage would decline if we actually did a new detailed feature survey now.

[jakarta.ee-spec] BALLOT: Approval to create the Jakarta MVCSpecification Project

Greetings Jakarta EE Specification Committee.

I need your vote to approve the creation of the Jakarta MVC specification project with this scope:

Jakarta MVC defines a standard for creating web applications following the action-based model-view-controller pattern.

Per the process, this will be a seven day ballot, ending on May 20/2020. I require a Super-majority positive vote of the Specification Committee members. Community input is welcome, but only votes cast by Specification Committee Representatives will be counted.

The Specification Committee is composed of representatives of the Jakarta EE Working Group Member Companies (Fujitsu, IBM, Oracle, Payara, Red Hat, Tomitribe), along with individuals who represent the EE4J PMC, Participant Members, Enterprise Members, and Committer Members.

Specification Committee representatives, your vote is hereby requested. Please respond with +1 (positive), 0 (abstain), or -1 (reject).  Any feedback that you can provide to support your vote will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wayne
