Re: [jakarta.ee-spec] BALLOT: Approval to create the Jakarta MVCSpecification Project

Wayne/all,

Thanks for starting that.

While the licenses say the usual EPL + GPL with CPE, the quoted Header says

Licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 (the "License");

So there’s a mismatch, which License(s) are correct?

Also will the second copyright

 * Copyright (c) 2016-2018 JSR 371 expert group and contributors

get a third line and how does that look like, e.g.:

* Copyright (c) 2020 Ivar Grimstad, Christian Kaltepoth and others

I used Jakarta NoSQL as an example where the project lead is mentioned as the copyright holder and others who may apply.

Since both are led by individual committers, I wonder, how that should be treated, and are there other proper headers, if so how could it look for both?

I remember the API/spec license for Jakarta NoSQL was adjusted and Apache 2 replaced by the EPL + GPL with CPE, so I assume the intention is the same here?

Thanks,

Werner

Subject: [jakarta.ee-spec] BALLOT: Approval to create the Jakarta MVCSpecification Project

Greetings Jakarta EE Specification Committee.

I need your vote to approve the creation of the Jakarta MVC specification project with this scope:

Jakarta MVC defines a standard for creating web applications following the action-based model-view-controller pattern.

Per the process, this will be a seven day ballot, ending on May 20/2020. I require a Super-majority positive vote of the Specification Committee members. Community input is welcome, but only votes cast by Specification Committee Representatives will be counted.

The Specification Committee is composed of representatives of the Jakarta EE Working Group Member Companies (Fujitsu, IBM, Oracle, Payara, Red Hat, Tomitribe), along with individuals who represent the EE4J PMC, Participant Members, Enterprise Members, and Committer Members.

Specification Committee representatives, your vote is hereby requested. Please respond with +1 (positive), 0 (abstain), or -1 (reject).  Any feedback that you can provide to support your vote will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wayne
