Re: [] BALLOT: Approval to release Jakarta EE Full Profile 8.0

I'm about two weeks premature in my "we did it".  The actual status is we're expecting the first round of votes to end today and the rest over the next two weeks.

We're firmly pointed in the right direction it's hard not to get excited, but not there yet.  On the still positive side, there's about 12 days left for everyone to show support on the votes!

I have been trying to follow along but honestly it's been a bit tough. Does this mean meeting the September 10th "deadline" is no longer a challenge? If so, this would be certainly cause for a small victory lap.

Saving the best for last.

Voting for this feels like being one of the first people to walk on the moon.

There was a time when I would look at CDI and Bean Validation as being completely open source specifications and think, "if only we had more like those two."

We have 37 of them now.

On top of that we're all truly sharing responsibility.  We've dramatically increased in another important metric, stewardship.

The power of that is so great we can't possibly imagine the impact right now.  But we will see it and everyone will agree the community effort required to get this release out the door was the turning point.  This was the spark that set us towards greatness.

I have such deeper respect for you all it's very humbling.

Special thank you to Carlos for voting.  You don't need to ask permission to be awesome.  Just be awesome.  You'll miss out on too much of life waiting for permission to play with the other kids.  Just jump in.  More people should follow your example.

It's been an awesome experience seeing everyone committed and at their best.  It's hard to measure the amount of respect I've gained for you all.

We did it!  Amazing job everyone.

+1 from Tomitribe

Greetings Jakarta EE Specification Committee.

I need your vote to approve the service release of the Jakarta EE Full Profile 8.0 as part of the Jakarta EE Platform 8.0 release

The JESP/EFSP requires a successful ballot of the Specification Committee in order to ratify and make this service release final. No  release review (or formal ceremony beyond a successful ballot result from the Specification Committee) is required for a service release.

The relevant materials are available here:

Per the process, this will be a fourteen day ballot, ending on September 9/2019. I require a Super-majority positive vote of the Specification Committee members. Community input is welcome, but only votes cast by Specification Committee Representatives will be counted.

The Specification Committee is composed of representatives of the Jakarta EE Working Group Member Companies (Fujitsu, IBM, Oracle, Payara, Red Hat, Tomitribe), along with individuals who represent the EE4J PMC, Participant Members, and Committer Members.

Specification Committee representatives, your vote is hereby requested. Please respond with +1 (positive), 0 (abstain), or -1 (reject).  Any feedback that you can provide to support your vote will be appreciated.
