Re: [jakarta.ee-spec.committee] [jakarta.ee-steering] Patent License Exception required for Jakarta RPC
|
Agreed. This relates to this EFSP issue where the discussion comes down to the belief that the spec committee is where this decision should reside.Â
https://github.com/EclipseFdn/EFSP/issues/67
I've sent a separate note to the Jakarta EE Steering Committee. I'd prefer specification proposals be approved first by the Specification Committee before the Steering Committee is engaged to issue exceptions.
Greetings Jakarta EE Steering Committee.
/cc Jakarta EE Specification CommitteeÂ
We have a new specification project proposal,
Jakarta RPC, to which I'd like to draw your attention.
You'll notice that the team has selected the Compatible Patent License for this project. Since this is exceptional to the default for the Jakarta EE Working Group, we need your approval to proceed.
We're tracking the proposal via
this GitLab issue. If you have questions, I recommend that you use comments on this issue to ensure that all interested parties can participate in the communication.
Please engage in your process to review this request and determine whether or not you'll grant this exception. Please inform the EMO when you've made your decision, so that we can take the next step.Â
We've optimistically set a November 24/2021 creation date for the new specification project to allow ample time for a specification committee ballot (we'll adjust this to allow for the required seven day ballot period if we receive your approval).
Thanks,
Wayne
