Agenda

  1. Approve the minutes of our Nov. 7th meeting
  2. Approve the Eclipse Foundation Specification Process v1.0.
  3. Discuss any modifications that this committee wants to make before adopting the Jakarta EE Specification Process v1.0. One option could be to simply adopt the EF Spec Process as is, and then make modifications as necessary going forward.

Minutes

Agenda topic #1: The minutes of the Nov. 7th meeting were unanimously approved.

Agenda topic #2:

  • Mike Milinkovich showed the group an example of what the Jakarta EE Specification Process could look like. There was general consensus that the approach of calling out specific deltas was workable.
  • The group next discussed the process for revising the Eclipse Foundation and specific working group specification processes. A strawman created by Wayne Beaton was reviewed. It was agreed that the processes described were workable, and should be included as an addendum to the Eclipse Foundation Specification Process.
  • Once again there was general agreement that the spec process was ready to be declared version 1.0, however Bill Shannon reiterated his concerns that changes may be required in order to support the impending Java trademark agreement with Oracle.
  • Dan Bandera pointed out that the marketing committee is working towards a press announcement in conjunction with the December 14th release of Eclipse Glassfish 5.1, and havingĀ  a version 1.0 of the Spec Process should be part of that announcement.
  • Mike Milinkovich stated that he would wait a few weeks and if no significant edits were proposed or concerns raised he will approve the current draft as EFSP v1.0.
