I would like to propose a two-part agenda for today's call.
Agree on what our medium term goals are. For example:
Creating a version 1.0 of the Spec Process document which focuses solely on the processes necessary for creating new specification in the jakarta namespace.
Creating a draft Spec Process document for community feedback.
...others?
Create a v1.0 Spec Process that focuses on enabling new specifications
General consensus that this is useful approach.
Namespace discussion
David Blevins to document and invite others to provide feedback.
Bill Shannon provided a document that he drafted in 2012 that discusses namespace and versioning issues
https://javaee.github.io/glassfish/wiki-archive/Maven%20Versioning%20Rules.html
David suggests that we switch to the ‘jakarta’ namespace as soon as possible.
David suggests that we start using the ‘jakarta’ Maven groupid as soon as possible. Use of the groupid would be under the control of the Specification Committee.
Discussion tabled for moment since the document was just distributed.
In next week’s meeting, the Spec Committee will vote whether the adopt ‘jakarta’ as its namespace.
TCK (Technology Compatibility Kit) process, continue reviewing/discussing (20 min)
Eclipse Foundation Specification Process document (15 min)
Tanja / Wayne working on a draft document
