[jakarta.ee-future-directions] Absence from Thursday Meeting
|
Hi folks,
Unfortunately, I will need to miss this next instance as I am
delivering a talk. Here are my updates:
- Thus far, Microsoft, Oracle (thank you!), and Payara (thank
you!) have committed to creating a CDI extension to support both
Jakarta EE and MicroProfile inside of LangChain4j in a
vendor-neutral fashion. I am optimistic Red Hat/IBM will also
soon provide their corporate commitments. Ed will commence the
kickoff phase of the collaboration soon, using the MicroProfile
AI meetings as a coordination point.
- I have shared the feedback that MicroProfile should start
their investigation of Agentic AI sooner rather than later:
https://groups.google.com/g/microprofile/c/WDab2cCfce8/m/UHwphHpIAAAJ.
Unlike LangChain4j, no one in the Java ecosystem is doing
serious work on this yet, so this could be an area in which
MicroProfile/Jakarta EE could really shine. The area is also
well suited for MicroProfile/Jakarta EE runtimes. Microsoft
feels this area is far too nascent for Jakarta EE to take on and
this could remain the case even long term. Currently Microsoft
will not be in a position to directly invest resources in such
an effort but we hope MicroProfile/Jakarta EE vendors could step
forward right now.
I can do any follow-ups asynchronously for this week.
Thanks,
Reza
