I appreciate the discussion we had yesterday and having Reza and others share insights around possible content for Jakarta EE 12, issues we face with gaining mindshare with Java application developers, when and how to address AI, and more. Note that our next meeting will be January 9, 2025.

 

Attendees: Reza Rahman, Michael Redlich, Will Lyons, Tanja Obradovic, Tobias Frech, Neil Patterson.

 

Summary:

1. Reza shared the Jakarta EE 12 – Google Slides deck and Jakarta EE 12 – Google Docs document and led a discussion on the possible content for the next release as well as the importance of clear milestones, goals, and content.
2. We had a brief discussion on the potential of AI and the position of several that our working groups should hold off for now at exploring AI with Java. See the shared MicroProfile AI meeting discussion.
3. The group discussed how best to increase uptake with developers, using the interest group as a place to explore strategies.
