Hi,

The current schedule is for the web profile TCK to be up and running fully "soon", so we can still release the web profile in Q1 2025 (before end of march). Since it's already the end of february, and we'll need some lead time to get everything posted and voted on, this will be extremely tight but not impossible.

Then work will move to the platform (aka full profile) TCK. My previous estimation for this to be done was for late Q3 2025. For some reason, that even as the Jakarta EE 11 co-coordinator and Jakarta TCK team member is beyond me, people voted to have the tests running from the app client container, and that is a lot and a lot of very hard work (and IMHO, that work is utterly wasted, since absolutely nobody out there is interested in this obscure and ancient app client container).

The only hurdle now is to get the Jakarta testing kit in shape for the release. It requires a lot of refactoring, which broke a lot of tests and configuration. The TCK team is busy with that. Apart from that, all individual specifications were already released a long time ago in 2024, and also Jakarta Core Profile was released in Dec 2024.

I would say that the end of Q1 2025 is a good estimate, although the TCK work may take even longer, it's hard to estimate.

Glad you mentioned this.  I asked the same question to this list about a month or so ago, and I never received any responses.  Last I heard was by the end of 1^st quarter 2025, but this release keeps getting pushed.  Original date was June/July 2024.

Hi,

 

I was wondering if anyone could help me find any information about the Jakarta EE 11 release schedule. I know that there are some delays, but I was interested in what is blocking (and possibly any estimates on completion schedule) and I’m running into a brick wall finding this info.

 

I found this page https://jakartaee.github.io/platform/jakartaee11/ which still states summer 2023 release date, which also contains a link to this azure board https://dev.azure.com/jakarta-ee-azdo/jakarta-ee-azdo/_workitems/recentlyupdated which seems active but has no way I can figure out which tickets are EE11 release blockers and which are unrelated.

 

Finally there’s the EE platform git issue tracker: https://github.com/jakartaee/platform/issues?q=is%3Aissue%20state%3Aopen%20label%3AEE11 which has 2 EE11 milestones, which has all subtasks completed but are still open, and a bunch of EE11 labeled issues which are open but not part of any milestone.

 

So yeah, any pointers would be helpful 😅
