Thank you for clarifying your requirements from the volunteers for the Jakarta EE booth.
1. You wish to attract Application Developers to adopt JakartaEE because it is your "desire is for all Application Developers to use Jakarta EE".
2. You would like volunteers to address the most frequently asked question " how to get involved " from potential Framework Developers.
3. You wish the volunteers to address current the lack of awareness of Java EE Application Developers for " Jakarta EE and the transition from Java EE -> Jakarta EE" .
4. By "competition" I did not have in mind just the Java Regime but Application Developers currently using competing frameworks for the same paradigm. Database-centric dynamic Web applications as either monolith or microservices architectures. One competing framework come to mind is the LAMP stack where an Application Developer may consider "change of direction" to Jakarta EE.
I thought others on the mailing list may want a clarification but may be too shy to ask so I'll do the honours.
while our desire is for all Application Developers to use Jakarta
EE, our role at the booth is not to "persuade them to change
direction", but rather to make them aware of Jakarta EE the
progress that has been made so far. A lot of the Application
Developers are still not aware of Jakarta EE and the transition
from Java EE -> Jakarta EE. So our main goal is to raiseawareness
about Jakarta EE of the
Application Developers!
In terms of the material that can help you, we will have that
prepared for you, if you wish to use it. Presentations are and new
ones will be added to Jakarta
EE Community -> Presentations folder in the Jakarta
EE.
We also want developers to invite to get engaged and involved
with Jakarta EE. The main question we always get is - how
to get involved. There is a short PPT for that
as well.
In terms of "competition" with Spring - we do want to point out
that it is not really a competitor, as VMware is a member of the
Jakarta EE Working Group and that there is Spring dependency on
Jakarta EE. You can refer to the following articles
I hope this helps and I hope we'll see you at the booth!!!
Best Regards,
Tanja

Is the purpose of this conference to
persuade Application Developers to change direction to
JakartaEE, If so is that what is expected from the
"volunteer" to pitch the benefits of JakartaEE to
Application Developers over other competing technologies
and also to Software House' technology decision makers to
take up JakartaEE for their next project or even migrate
from their current applications ?
As we shared before, for the very first time, we
will have a Jakarta EE track at Devnexus
2023 which includes 10 Jakarta EE sessions. Here
is the link to the social kit document to
help us with promotion of the sessions and speakers.
Thanks in advance for your ongoing support!
We also have a Jakarta EE booth at Devnexus
on April 5-6. If you are planning to
attend the event and are interested in volunteering,
please add yourself in the Booth Sign-up sheet here.
The idea is to engage with the attendees at the booth,
talk or present demos/few slides about Jakarta EE.
Your support is highly appreciated!
We have one free full conference pass that we can
offer to one of the volunteers at the booth on a
first come first served basis. Please note that the
deadline to assign the free pass is 6 March!
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any
questions,
Thanks,
Shabnam
