Was one of the reasons we didn’t include servlet in MP 1.0. Adoption of MP doesn’t appear to have been impacted by that decision.

JAX-RS is quite a bit different though in that it is a closer representation of HTTP and is quite a bit more flexible. It doesn’t prescribe a particular encoding model (e.g. JAXB). One could argue it’s servlet part 2.
It's close but I would not include JAX-RS or JSON-P. You know as well as I do that while JAX-RS and JSON-P is the standard today it won't be in five or ten years. DCE, CORBA IIOP, SOAP/XML they all have a limited lifespan.
