Re: [iot-wg] Eclipse IoT projects deployment requirements

Hi Jens,

Thanks for your feedback!
Requirements related to package managers are actually inlined in the description for each target environment (Raspberry Pi, BeagleBone, Amazon, etc.). For the sake of clarity maybe there could be a summary of those in a section of its own. Feel free to re-model the wiki page if you have ideas in that direction :-)

As to GPG signing, you mean that you mainly need a signing mechanism, rather than a way to GPG-sign with Eclipse keys, correct? Do you think it would actually be considered a better practice to not sign with an Eclipse wide GPG key but rather use a per-project key instead?

Thanks!
Benjamin

Hi,

this looks good!

Yes Eclipse SCADA can be run in a cloud setup. We are currently doing some setups with Ansible in order to automate the deployment in our projects.

I would like to see a section about package managers, and repositories. RPM (with YUM) [1], DEB (with APT) [2]. And their signing using GPG.

When using GPG signing it is not uncommon to provide a specific project related GPG key for these packages. So there is not a definite need for an Eclipse wide GPG key (like for exe and msi files).

All,

As discussed previously, I have started a wiki page to collect requirements in order to improve our build and deployment story for IoT projects.

I am looking forward to getting project leads’ feedback on this document, so feel free to comment directly on the wiki or on the mailing list.

The goal is to use this as the starting point for getting a proper set of tools and guidelines to make projects « good citizens » for embedded platforms like Raspberry Pi or BeagleBone, and cloud platforms like Amazon or Juju.
