     Hi David,

      thanks for the explanation!

I think that sounds like a really wonderful idea! So best of luck!

      +1 for works with

      Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. To address the two issues:

      1. We will not be shipping the Device IO APIs with Kura. We
will simply import packages provided by the exports of the
Device IO library. We will likely be looking to contribute an
OSGi friendly bundle back to the OpenJDK community at some
point, but I believe they are still trying to work out the API
        layer themselves.
2, Kura will function without the Device IO library. This
would simply be an additional feature similar to the Web UI.

      Thanks,
      —Dave

              Jens,
I think Julien's point was simply that Kura's team
might not be following this list…

Kura team, could you please confirm that Kura will
not be shipping the Device IO API (unless it's part of
OpenJDK already, in that case it would be covered by the
                general exempt pre-req of JRE/JDKs – but I don't think
it is in OpenJDK yet, correct?).
As for the pre-req, I thought it was pretty clear in
my original e-mail, but I'm sure the Kura team can also
confirm that Kura doesn't need GPIO support and the like
to be a fully functional IoT framework :-)

              Benjamin.

                      Hi,

well the discussion should be made in public in
order to find out if it is a workswith or
                        pre-requiste dependency.

The would like to have a works-with dependency
but up to now I see no statement that says that
the software will work without the dependency.
Which is, as far as I understood it, a
                        requirement for a works-with dependency [1].

So if Kura would not start up due to a missing
DIO dependency, then this would be a
                        pre-requisite dependency instead.

                        Jens

                          Hi
I think it would be better to discuss the
details on the ticket or kura-dev mailing
                          list?
Because for me it was clear they go "works-with"
dependency due to the GPLv2 licence.
