Re: [ide-dev] IDE working group [WAS: Improving Eclipse JDT - Ecosystem]

I discussed this proposal with our team here at Yatta and we would be
interested in joining an IDE working group.

As tool developers building on the Eclipse platform and JDT, we too see the
need for a coordinated effort across projects to bring the IDE forward and
put more resources into common core IDE technologies and the JDT.

Eclipse core developement hat been an issue for us before and we've already
been planning to contribute more to these IDE areas. An IDE working group
seems like a good way to do that and coordinate with others who face the
same issues.

Manuel and I will be attending ECE next week and are looking forward to
discussing the WG idea as well as the general IDE challenges further at the
Eclipse IDE BoF further.

Best regards,

Which companies are interested in getting involved? Who can contribute resources (people or money)? Who can help write the charter, and get involved in governance?

Or because there is no company paying for this work? Or don't companies know that/how they could pay someone to hire people for JDT?

If that's true it must be the former case: that it's hard to find people that want to work on JDT. In that case we can offer up to two developers with a solid background on JDT, bytecode, and compilers (Jikes RVM) ....
