Apologies:
Rob Sinclair, IBM
Harm Sluiman, IBM
Gian Franco Bonini, SAP

2) Minutes and matters arising
Nothing to report

3) PMC and Eclipse interaction
Planning and requirements group representatives still to be finalised.
It was clarified that the architecture group is an elected group,
whereas the planning and requirements groups are 'designated at will'.
For the two designated groups, Serge confirmed that he would be the IBM
representative, Don will email Tyler with details of the Compuware
representatives, George will be the FOKUS representative and Jim will
represent CA. Gian Franco has indicated to Tyler that SAP's groups
representatives are almost finalised.
Tyler indicated that he would like the groups to meet before the F2F.
Gian Franco is speaking to Michael Bechauf regarding a representative
for the marketing group. Some committers will be appointed to look after
the marketing group. Serge indicated that Geoffrey Bessin may be asked
to represent IBM on the marketing group.
Draft committer lists have been prepared by IBM, Intel, Scapa and
Compuware. FOKUS has yet to decide, but aiming to have at least one more
committer in the project. SAP and CA are working out their additional
committers. Need for progress on this in order to elect the architecture
group. The current charter allows that the initial committer lists can
be established without elections. Any future committers will have to be
elected. Current committers are continuing to work on the release, but
future plans will require finalised committer lists. Harm needs to be
available for discussion of the IBM committer proposal. Possible special
meeting of PMC to discuss this, or full discussion at next week's call.
Discussion regarding the potential for problems with committer
processes. The Eclipse Foundation establishes projects which are bound
by the established rules and regulations, but the foundation itself is
not bound by the same rules.
A certification sub-project is still under discussion for TPTP. This has
not yet reached the proposal stage.
ACTION: Tyler to publish group lists
ACTION: Groups to meet before the upcoming F2F
ACTION: Tyler to discuss process issues with Mike Milinkovich and other
projects at the Board meeting

4) Operation of the current plan
No one from committer call present.

5) Technical forward plan
Attendance at the F2F was discussed. Representation from Intel, Scapa,
SAP, FOKUS, IBM and CA is confirmed. Further confirmation required from
other, prospective project members.
The development process drafted by Rob Sinclair (IBM), Karla Callaghan
(Intel) and Alex Nolan (Scapa) needs to be updated. Proposed that this
same team is re-engaged to look at the new development process.
ACTION: Tyler to create and distribute F2F meeting agenda
ACTION: Tyler to re-engage development process team

6) Internal and external communication
The marketing group discussed participation at specific events, PR
opportunities and website updates last week. An events calendar has been
drafted and will be distributed for further contribution by the
marketing group. The focus, in terms of event participation, is being
directed towards EclipseCon. Ling Yao (Intel) has already prepared a
list of possible topics for presentations at EclipseCon and further
discussion is expected at the marketing group.
Mike is on the EclipseCon program committee and will try to champion
TPTP presentations where possible. One IBM Rational presentation has
been submitted and a presentation suggestion from Andy Kaylor at Intel
will probably be submitted also.
Mike requested suggestions for keynote speakers for EclipseCon. These
speakers do not necessarily have to be associated with Eclipse, and the
preference is to move away from IBM presenters.
It is hoped that a specific TPTP track can be put together for
EclipseCon.
Software Test and Performance Magazine has suggested that the TPTP
project considers submitting an article for the December issues of the
magazine as this will be distributed at their upcoming conference. The
marketing group is also considering distributing a news release at this
conference, possibly focusing on new members and new commercial
products. Ian Skerrett, Eclipse marketing director, encouraged the group
to consider additional creative ideas for news releases, including
customer success stories etc.
Melanie is currently in communication with Susan Iwai regarding the
immediate website updates that are required. Susan has asked that any
changes to mailing lists go through her or the Eclipse webmaster. The
need for progress on the mailing lists issue was discussed. Harm is
looking into the options available to the project.
Ling is continuing to chase the Intel PR team to contact the analyst at
Gartner who was interested in a briefing (Cameron Haight).
Francois Letellier from ObjectWeb attended the first marketing group
meeting, and discussed the possibility of the TPTP group contributing to
their upcoming news releases. Mike had contacted the PMC with regard to
potential PR approval difficulties for these quotes. Mike has agreed to
put a draft quote together and send to ObjectWeb, copying Serge.
Presenting at ObjectWeb's conference in January was also proposed. IBM
Rational has indicated that it is interested in presenting.
ACTION: Mike to send email to Francois at ObjectWeb

Next Planning Group meeting: Tuesday, 21st September 2004, - 5pm CET /
4pm BST / 11am EST / 8am PST
