Observing were

Melanie Woods, Scapa
2) Minutes and matters arising
Nothing to report.
3) PMC and Eclipse interaction
- Preliminary talks have been held with a company that is in the process
of joining Eclipse and is interested in participating in the Hyades
project. The company has indicated that it wants to put resource into
its involvement and to enhancing and advancing Hyades. Discussion
regarding whether the company would be able to attend the upcoming face
to face meeting. It was agreed that an invitation could be made if the
company's Eclipse membership has been concluded.
- Another Eclipse member that has expressed interest in the past
regarding participating in Hyades, Mercury, could also be invited to
join the face to face meeting. It should be stressed that the face to
face meeting is focused on Hyades planning, and not planning individual
members' integration with Hyades.
- A second call will take place on Tuesday, 4th May, with the aim of
drafting a defined development process document. Rob, Alex Nolan (Scapa)
and Karla Callaghan (Intel) will participate in this call.
ACTION - Tyler to document the PMC charter discussions held to date for
review at next week's call.
ACTION - Rob to contact Alex Nolan (Scapa) and Karla Callaghan (Intel)
to discuss development process and draft the defined development process
document.
ACTION - Tyler to check on current Eclipse membership status of company
interested in participating in the Hyades project.
4) Operation of the current plan
- Defect fixing continues with the 2 week extension to the M9 release
phase. Trying to fit in as many fixes as possible in this timeframe.
- It is unlikely that the Fedora Linux support will block the release,
as the issue relates to unsupported versions. Checking with originator
of the bug to confirm that this is no longer a problem.
- Antony Miguel (Scapa) has been working on creating a number of manual
test suites as plug-ins for Hyades.
- It was agreed that we need to draft our positioning statement on U2TP
support in Hyades as quickly as possible, as the OMG are ready to make
U2TP generally available as a new standard.
ACTION - Mike, Melanie to draft marketing position statement quickly and
distribute on hyades-dev.
5) Technical forward plan
- Mike drafted an agenda for the upcoming face to face meeting and
distributed it to the planning group. No objections or amendments tabled
during the meeting. Mike will email a request for additional
requirements suggestions to hyades-dev, so that these can be discussed
at the face to face meeting.
- No issues uncovered as yet regarding the use of Hyades as the PMC
Charter level name. Mike has made Skip aware of the plans, and Sharon
(Intel) is also now aware.
- Mike proposed that part of the discussions will include the interim
processes that are to be followed until the new PMC charter is given
Eclipse board approval. These interim processes will probably align with
the current working processes.
ACTION - Mike to contact Dave Thomson regarding Eclipse post 3.0 plans.
ACTION - Mike to send email to hyades-dev to request additional
requirements suggestions.
6) Internal and external communication
- Serge has received feedback from Mike on his documents, and will
distribute updated documents to the group.
- Scapa will participate in the Eclipse Technology eXchange (eTX)
reception at the ICSE 2004 event in Edinburgh
(http://conferences.iee.org/icse2004/etx.htm) on May 27th at the
Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Scapa will not be able to
attend a similar poster reception being held at ECOOP in Oslo (June
15th). Other members may want to consider this opportunity. Details of
any poster sessions for the ECOOP event in Oslo need to be submitted
online (http://cyberchair.acm.org/ecoop/) by May 7th.
- A request for all available non-company biased Hyades-related
materials was sent at the end of last week. No response as yet.
- Question was raised regarding PR activities surrounding the release of
Eclipse 3.0. No information available. Melanie to discuss this with
Eclipse Marketing Committee on Tuesday, May 4th and advise planning
group of any opportunities to include Hyades information in the overall
3.0 PR materials. The new end-user features that we might want to
include in the Eclipse 3.0 press release are: HTTP load test sample
tool, integrated views from log viewers, launch configuration and
integration between testing and profiling, profiling, probe kits and
method code coverage.
ACTION - Melanie to organise participation in the Eclipse Technology
eXchange (eTX) reception.
ACTION - Melanie to pursue PR opportunities for Hyades within the scope
of any planned Eclipse 3.0 PR activities.
7) AOB
- Tyler raised the suggestion that the new PMC meeting should be
separated from the current planning group meeting for discussion. It was
agreed that the PMC meeting should follow on from the planning group
meeting on Mondays at or around the proposed time of 9.30am PST /
12.30pm EST / 5.30pm GMT / 6.30pm CET, and that business related to the
formation of the PMC which hitherto had been discussed in the Hyades
meeting would be postponed to the PMC meeting (i.e. standing agenda item
2 would be taken last and would form the basis of the PMC meeting).
Melanie will be available to take minutes for both meetings.
Next meeting: Monday, 10th May 2004 - 6pm CET / 5pm GMT / 12pm EST / 9am
PST
