Dear community,
Henryk Konsek and I had started the Eclipse Hono project back in 2016 when we thought that it would be a great idea to create a scalable, open source IoT platform.
In the meantime, more people became involved. Some of them became committers while others moved on to other endeavors. I want to thank all of you, who have contributed to Hono and have spent their valuable time on the project in one way or the other.
The project page on the Eclipse Foundation's Project Management Infrastructure [1] lists all of the currently registered committers of Hono. Whenever we want to nominate a new committer and/or need to vote on other issues concerning the project, these committers
all have a vote.
However, since some of them are no longer involved in Hono, we do not really expect them to cast a vote, but still the formal process entitles them to do so.
This situation is not unexpected and indeed happens to many projects over time. This is also why the Eclipse Foundation explicitly mentions it in their Project Handbook [2].
Based on this policy and in order to make project governance easier for us, I will trigger the retirement of the following current committer with the Eclipse Foundation in February 2026:
Kartheeswaran Kalidass
Please let me know if you plan to continue to work on Hono and therefore would rather retain your current committer status.
I will also notify the affected committers by direct mail (where possible).
