Eclipse doesn’t think that yesterday’s
announcement will help Higgins directly.
The latest promise only applies to customers who buy the enterprise
edition of Suse. On the other hand,
one could decide to do an interoperability demo on enterprise Suse in the near
term. Eclipse legal is almost
finished revising the draft response to the OSP, and we were encouraged to have
Higgins’ Novell contacts advocate it to Microsoft.

That's what I was
thinking... let's put this baby to the test!

Dale,
How much does Microsoft's new pledge "not to
assert its patent rights over any of its technology that may be blended with
Suse Linux" help with our short term interoperability IP issues?
