Re: [gmf-dev] Welcome Mickaël Istria as a new modeling.gmp.gmf-tooling Committer

Cool!

Although I probably won't have enough free time to do everything I want to GMF-Tooling, I'd like to share with you my personal goals for GMF-Tooling:
* First, I'd like to make it easier to contribute and develop. For this, I plan to try to work on building GMF with to Tycho (http://bugs.eclipse.org/333270 ), which is far easier to use, understand maintain than PDE/Athena. Once it is OK with Tycho (including testing, packaging and so on), we'll discuss wether it is relevant to make it the master build, and to trash PDE-build/Athena. If everything is OK, let's move the build to http://hudson.eclipse.org !
I personaly don't feel easy with contributing while I am not able build GMF locally... Tycho should provide this ability.
* Then I'd like to work on making GMF easier to use, with a more sexy result in demo. Highlight the fact that people can use Images (which is something most people are not aware of according to people I spoke about GMF at ECon/ESE). In order to make it more user-friendly -> get more users -> get more contributors.
* And also, I'd like to work on extensibility in the tooling. For example, it would be nice if people were able to develop new Figures in the gmfgraph, as simple extensions. They would only have to provide a model describing there extension, some xpt templates, and some runtime class; that they could share.

What do you think of these topics?
