Thread-topic: Indexing streaming geospatial data?

On our current project we need to be able to index geospatial data that is being received from streaming sources handled by Apache STORM (http://storm.incubator.apache.org/) bolts.

The examples I’ve seen so far involve GeoMesa+Hadoop(MapReduce)+Accumulo to ingest/index data using a “batch” process.

What are the options for indexing stream-based geospatial data using STORM+GeoMesa+Accumulo?
