Our JobStatusUpdater also makes active checking. But it is done in 
background thread, so it doesn't hung main ui thread.

Please look at 
eu.geclipse.ui.wizards.jobsubmission.JobCreatorSelectionWizard.JobSubmissionJob.run(IProgressMonitor)

There we are submitting in loop many selected jobs.
