[europa-build-workshop] Re: EMFT, ECF, and Common Build Infrastructure
|
Andrew:
Sounds good.
As to how you can help... that's a good question. I'd say 'help me set up
build.eclipse.org' but you're not a committer (yet?) so I can't do that
according to its rules of use. At the moment I have to worry about the
Modeling project's MDT subproject's website and builds, so once that's out
of the way perhaps we can discuss the best approach for sharing time and
resources.
Pete:
If you want to try out the web UI for ECF, grab what you need from CVS and
customize it to suit your needs. I'll be available by email and on
Skype/Yahoo to field questions (user: nickboldt). Start here:
http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/www/emft/build/?cvsroot=Eclipse_Website
Note that as coded, build/index.php kicks a script, start.sh, to start the
build. Here's a sample logfile - you'll note that the options passed to
start.sh are echoed into the log right at the top:
http://emft.eclipse.org/technology/emft/teneo/downloads/drops/0.7.5
/I200610041055/buildlog.txt
If you're curious, start.sh is here:
http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/indextech.cgi/org.eclipse.emft/releng/common/scripts/
Assuming you're planning to run this on your vserver at
http://ecf.eclipse.org/, you might want to also have a look at this wiki

Hi Nick & Pete,
According to [1], Nick and I are supposed to do this this week:
(15 October) Assist in migrating ECF to web UI for kicking builds &
running tests on their vserver using EMFT as example
But I'm thinking that in light of Nick getting the green light to work
on extending EMFT's build to become a prototype of the CBI, we should
probably hold off on the ECF migration for now. What do you think?
It's probably best if we spend our time on the prototype CBI instead.
Pete: is that okay with you?
Nick: how can I help with the EMFT generalization?
Andrew
