[esmf-dev] ESMF news (IDTA, Forum, Renaming)

Hi Eclipse Semantic Modeling Framework dev team,

Thanks to Andreas for the good news and the first (bugfix) releases on ESMF.

 

Some updates on our semantic modeling front:

 

1. We have introduced our ESMF to the IDTA from our parent project Eclipse Digital Twin last Thursday which pretty well received.
   There was no deep discussion yet. Please find the slides attached.
2. The forum https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/f/617/ is ready for discussions (by ourselves as committers as well as anyone else),
   so why not keep an eye on it or start an interesting discussion about SAMM or our other tools.
3. The maintainers are making progress with the renaming related activities since we transitioned from OMP
   and expect to release new (non-bugfix) versions of our tools with new names (SAMM, ESMF, …) in Spring 2023.

 

For any organizational questions or discussions let the lead team of the ESMF (Birgit Boss, Thomas Henn and myself) know.

Thanks to everyone for your valuable contributions, let’s look forward to the future of the ESMF within Eclipse Digital Twin in 2023!

Good news, everyone!

 

esmf-sdk 2.1.1 was just released and is now available on Maven Central. It is a bugfix/maintenance release.

 

This is the first release of the esmf-sdk after the project's transition from the Semantic Data Structuring (SDS) working group of the Open Manufacturing Platform (OMP) to the Eclipse Semantic Modeling Framework. Please note that since the replacement of references to SDS and OMP is still pending, the Maven artifacts still have the "sds-" prefix and Java packages are still located under the "io.openmanufacturing" prefix.
