Re: [equinox-dev] Announcing availability of Eclipse (4.4) and Equinox Luna M2

This has been discussed in many bugs and PMC meetings, but in short, the answer is that the Eclipse Platform is not only for those doing work at Eclipse (some adopters can or are still happily using CVS :) and it is desired to "minimize change" unless there is a substantial reason to. But more important, the Eclipse Platform itself is not the place to "deliver everything Eclipse committers need" -- that would end up being a pretty big distribution and complicate "packaging".

But, there was a new EPP Package (the "Packaging Project" :)  created called  "Eclipse Standard" that includes Git.
That, and other EPP packages, for Luna M2, will be available in about 2 weeks. For the M1 version, see
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php
and it is described in detail at
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-standard-44/lunam1

I installed the Luna M2 right now and got curious:
What is the reason for CVS still being delivered with Luna instead of Git since it is the official source container of Eclipse now?
