I will keep monitoring discovery/mirroring work.

However, I am unsure on how this can fit the bill. How smart is mirroring?
Let say that we have two clients on the LAN, both of them mirroring a 
1.0 central repository. They wake up in the morning and discover that 
the central repository is now at version 1.1.  What will they do?  If 
both of them start downloading stuff from the WAN to go to version 1.1, 
then - in this scenario - having local mirrors will not help.
