Hi Frederic and Leif and fellow EPP-devers,

Thank you for stepping forward to take over the EclipseIDE Java Package for EPP!

I have started the election[1] and I look forward to a strong welcome from all the existing package maintainers.

There are some important questions about measuring success raised in your email and I encourage all committers and members of the community to share their thoughts.

Since Aleks (Kurtakov) announced he will no longer be maintaining the Java package, we’ve already talked and coordinated with Jonah (Graham) and Aleks regarding the future of the Java package.

 

The Java Package is regularly among the top entries in terms of distribution and download numbers of the Eclipse IDE packages and provides a high leverage for the Eclipse IDE. To be able to measure the success of the package, I would like to ask, how you currently measure the success and the impact of the Packages? Are there KPIs like distribution, stability, user feedback available? Furthermore, do you have any requests with regard to the Package maintaining?

 

In any case I would be happy if you Jonah could start the nomination process for Leif. Thank you very much!
