Re: [epp-dev] What's our plan for M3 packages?

Below the surface... today I managed to build a p2 repository with the package information from Hudson, i.e. the first half of the package build job in Hudson should work now (indigo.epp-repository-build).

The second half means building the packages from the p2 repository with some director calls (indigo.epp-package-build). Unfortunately this is not yet running in the new Hudson instance, but I am able to start it manually from the command line. Anyway, it is not really critical to be able to run it from Hudson. I started a build manually (http://build.eclipse.org/technology/epp/epp_build/indigo/download/20101110-2009/) but as of now I am unable to predict whether it's able to build all the packages.

I just downloaded the 64-bit Java package and it started without showing any problems.

My next steps for tomorrow:
- Fix the remaining issues with the indigo.epp-package-build build job in Hudson.
- Go through all package definitions and make sure that they contain all the updates from the last released version (Helios SR1)
- Apply changes to the package configuration that came in from Bugzilla
- ...start another build...

Given that everything works well and if we can do some package testing tomorrow and on Friday, we could release it in time on Friday, but since this is the first successful EPP build for Indigo a delay until Monday seems to be more realistic.

Regards, Markus

Great to hear Markus.

And ... uh ... how's that going? On the surface, it appears there's been no progress ... so just take this as a reminder that some of us (and community) are looking forward to it ... and, is there anything (easy) I can do to help?

Thanks,

This time is much better because (a) I am back from vacation since this week and (b) there is more time until the release of the M3 bits in about two weeks. You can expect me to work on the packages and on the Hudson build (there were some issues last time) as soon as the platform team delivers their milestone (which is tomorrow).

In the past, I've always "complained" the last few days of a milestone asking where our packages were ... so this time I'm going to start early. :)

Only a couple of weeks left ... can we count on M3 EPP Packages for early testers?

Thanks,
