Re: [epp-dev] Packages Compare Chart
|
Hi,
the comparison chart does not list a number of components of the
Modeling Package, such as (from the top of my head) Teneo, CDO, Xtext,
OCL and more. Should the comparison chart only list the top-level
projects being a part of a package? Regarding the number of rows the
chart already has, this might actually be a wise decision. However,
people looking for a package containing one of the non-top-level
projects might walk away, as they might get a wrong impression of the
contents of a package (so it might be wise to also list 2nd level
projects and maybe even 3rd level projects).

Good Afternoon Package Maintainers.
Can you check out http://phoenix.eclipse.org/packages/compare-
packages and
let me know if the chart matches your package.
PS. Please ignore the missing icons for PHP and Pulsar will work come
Wednesday once the packages are live on our servers.

Hi Nathan,
For JEE Column, you should add "EclipseLink" with blue checkmark. That
would also go into 'reporting'. Also, RSE should go into
'reporting'. By
Design, Reporting and JEE are the same, except for the addition of
BIRT in
'reporting'.
Also, instead of "JEE" the column should be labeled "Java EE" ...
perhaps
you saw the note from Sun last year saying it has to be "Java
EE" (some
trademark/license/spec issue). Similar for the row called "JEE Tools".
That should become "Java EE Tools". Note, I think it's ok that the
icon
stay "JEE" ... I'm not real sure of the exact rules, but know it
mostly
had to do with using in prose.
Lastly, I'd strongly recommend you left justify that first column.
As it
is, it looks like some sort of "outline" where things like RSE and
PDE are
"sub categories" of XML Tools, which of course, they are not.
Hope this helps,
Thanks,

[epp-dev] Packages Compare Chart

Afternoon,
I know this is late in the cycle, but we need to update
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/compare-packages for
Wednesdays
release.
If your package is already on the list could you please respond with
any
changes to be made to this chart?
If the PDT / Pulsar teams could supply me a list of projects for their
packages I?ll make sure they?re added as well.
Thanks,
