Re: [emft-dev] Vote for Committer status for Lucas Bigeardel has started
|
Anne,
I've opened the following two bugs to correct the issues with EMF and EMFT
portal records.
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=211044
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=211046
I've CC'd the EMF and EMFT mailing lists to encourage all the committers to
double check the information in these bugs to ensure the names are spelled
correctly, that components are named at desired, and that assignment of
committers to components is correct and complete. Please comment on the
bugs if any of the information is incorrect or incomplete. Keep in mind
that this information is used when it's time to nominate committers to your
specific component(s) and ensures that only the existing set of committers
for your component(s) can vote. The vote for Lucas was done at the EMFT
project-wide level and would imply him becoming a committer on all
components, so I'd like to cancel (veto) this vote and have David start a
new nomination process once the portal information has been updated. Sorry
for the confusion and the delays.
While I'm spamming all of you, I'd also like to remind you that being part
of the Ganymede release train requires you to sign up by the M4 milestone
deadline later next month so you must be producing builds that are
consumable by Ganymede by that time frame. Rich and I are also planning
to produce a Modeling package, like the EE package for Europa but of course
with all the Modeling technology, so having your components as part of
Ganymede will make this process much easier for us and will ensure that
your component has the exposure you no doubt want for it. If there are
things that Nick and I can do to ensure your builds are in reasonable shape
in time for the deadline, please let us know. I'm very excited about
having a Modeling package and this year the plan is to start producing such
packages as part of the milestones and release candidate Ganymede builds so
this will help provide our community with more consumable results sooner
rather than later...
I'll also take this opportunity to say how proud I am to be working with
such a remarkable community of people. While many projects struggle to
attract contributors and committers, you guys are showing up in droves. To
me that's incredibly exciting and rewarding!

status for Lucas Bigeardel has
started
Hi Nick, et al--
Thanks for that point of clarification--you're right, there are five
components and six committers for EMF.
Until very recently components were only in the Portal only (and only there
to enable component-level voting); the table with the component info was
not used by the Foundation database. Karl just recently did some work to
change this situation so the component information is now in one table that
is used by both the Portal and the db.
For your missing EMFT components, a couple of those are the ones just
recently created. I have been trying to figure out what method we were
using to get those set up correctly but I didn't save all the bugzillas
that came through my inbox. If there is a bug already open that has the
correct component structure, could you send us that URL? Otherwise, maybe
open a bug to tell us what we need to fix? Sorry if we messed up an earlier
request. Thanks.

Just a point of correction: there are EMF components (EMF, SDO, MQ,
MT, VF) and six committers.

Ecore Tools ("ecoretools") and Servus ("servus") are missing from the
list here, and "jcr-mgt" is not the correct short form -- it should
be "jcrm":
http://www.eclipse.org/projects/lists.php?list=byproject¶m=modeling.emft
I can't comment on why these are missing from the portal -- I've no
idea how components are created w.r.t. the portal.
David:
Provided that you've been properly added to group modeling-home, you
can create/update the website content yourself, then commit it to
CVS. Here's how:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Modeling_Project_Releng/Website_Maintenance.
If you're not in that group, open a bug in Community > CVS, assigned
to webmaster and cc:'d to me ( codeslave@xxxxxxxxxx) and Ed (
merks@xxxxxxxxxx).

Hi Ed et al,
We have six components for EMF and eight for EMFT in the database.
Ed, you can't see components in the Portal if you're not a
committer
on those components. Here are links that show who's a committer on
which component for EMF and EMFT:
http://www.eclipse.org/projects/lists.php?
list=byproject¶m=modeling.emf
http://www.eclipse.org/projects/lists.php?
list=byproject¶m= modeling.emft
I'm not sure that this information addresses everything you listed
below, but it does explain part of the issue. Thanks.
