Fine by me. I think as we move into the Jakarta EE 9 and 10 timeframe I’m not concerned with how individual projects manage their branching strategy.

Yes, as long as you can keep track of the release and have merged everything back to your master branch (or whatever branching strategy you're using).
Any other PMC member, please speak up if you have another opinion.
As Jakarta EE 8 was published meanwhile, may all projects remove the EE4J_8 branch in their Github repositories?
