[edge-wg] Edge Native Working Group - Steering Committee Election Announcement

The Edge Native Working Group Charter identifies the various committees that drive the facets of the working group for which there are elected positions to be filled.  In the case of Edge Native, the elected positions are for the Gold (2), Silver (1) and Committer (1) Members at the Steering Committee level.  Please note that Strategic Members each have a representative appointed to the Committee.

Through this email, we are happy to announce the Eclipse Foundation will hold an election on behalf of the working group using the proposed timetable listed below. This mimics the process used by other working groups as well as the Eclipse Foundation itself for filling elected positions on our Board.    As the Working Group has two Gold members namely Huawei and Kynetics they are both acclaimed and no election will be held for the Gold Member Seats.

All members are encouraged to consider nominating someone from a Silver Participant Member (Robert Bosch and SimpleMatter SRL) and from the Committer Members of the following related Edge Native Projects namely;  Eclipse ioFog, Eclipse fog05 and Eclipse Zenoh.  Additionally, self-nominations are more than welcome.

Please note only committer members of the above noted projects are eligible for the Committer Member nomination as these projects are within the scope of the working group.  If you are unsure if you are a committer member of any of these projects, please feel free to reach out to membership coordination for assistance.

The nomination period is now open and runs until July 16, 2021.

Nominations should be sent to this mailing list using the following subject line:

Edge Native Steering Committee - Nomination (Indicate Participant or Committer)

Once nominations are closed, we will inform the working group of the confirmed candidates standing.  Typically, we encourage all candidates to provide a short bio including their position statement.  At that point, we will distribute ballots via email to those eligible to vote.  The election process will follow the Eclipse “Single Transferable Vote” method, as defined in the Eclipse Foundation Bylaws.

The winning candidate will be announced on this mailing list shortly after the close of the election.

Election Schedule:

Call for Nominations:  July 9 - July 16, 2021

Announce Candidates Standing:   July 21, 2021

Ballot Distribution (Election):   July 23 - 29, 2021

The following positions will be filled as part of this election:

*Please note the Steering Committee currently assumes the duties of the Marketing and Brand Committee!

Please let us know if you have any questions.
