Re: [eclipselink-users] project packaging?

Hi Bryan,

Right now the focus is on getting the contributed code built as standard jars. That's why I had filed the enhancement request--to ensure the code would be available as bundles. But I'm not sure whether this means the projects will be plugin projects. It's currently an open question whether the bundles should just package the standard jars or if the the jars should be bundles.

My experience with EclipseLink & OSGi so far confirms that a bundle adds constaints on jars which do not prevent its use in a more unconstrained Java SE/EE environment. This suggests that viewing the code as a set of bundles is the most flexible starting point.

I've got some of the source from SVN in my workspace. The first thing I noticed is that the projects are not plug-in projects. Are there plans to convert the projects so they can be used with PDE and the OSGi launcher?

Bryan
