Bug 391411 - CHAR(1) column containing a space is converted to the 0xFFFF Character

Core & JPA LRG passed with MySQL & Oracle DB.

Fix Checked into EclipseLink 2.5.0 & 2.4.2. Check-in for 2.3.3 pending.
