I am out of town and in meetings Mon-Wed of next week, but Gordon
should be able to update you on the status of the spec wrt this feature.
FYI, the leaning right now is to remove the "base" attribute from @OrderColumn,
which would help some of the contiguousness issues. However, it does not remove
them altogether as there is still a chance that a record could get removed from
the database without the provider's knowledge.
