Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] 81 Talks Selected

Hi,

unfortunately I cannot join tomorrow, as we have a demo camp in Hamburg. I think the current section in Eclipse RCP / Eclipse 4 looks very good.

I think the two session I would pick in addition (if we have more slots) would be:

https://www.eclipsecon.org/na2014/session/eclipse4-rap-can-it-be-done - Lots of my customer contacts are asking about single sourcing with RCP and the web
https://www.eclipsecon.org/na2014/session/integration-tests-rcp-made-easy-swtbot-and-tycho - I like the Redhat work on the SWTBot UI recorder

But I would not cancel a already selected talk for them. I wanted to give some input for tomorrow, feel free to decide differently.

Best regards, Lars

I've met with a few small groups, and accepted a few more talks (>=3.7) in RCP and Java. This comes to 80 selected talks [1]. I've also heard back from Docker, and they are going to present. Finally, I marked 17 'on-the-fence' talks that I think are close, and we should consider [2].

80 + 1 + 17 == 98 (our magic number).

Unfortunately it's not that easy :(. I've received the CDT talk from PayPall (I'll send out the abstract). Also, there are a few projects that are not represented.
  • Birt (We have a tutorial though)
  • Jubula (Alex is giving another talk, and we have a tutorial)
  • CBI (We have a talk on HIPP, but not CBI itself)
  • Scout
  • Gyrex
  • Scala
So, here is what I need you to do:

  1. Go through the 'accept' [1] talks and see if there are any you completely disagree with. I imagine 'JDT Tips and Tricks' might be a bit controversial, however it is being given by a pretty talented female committer on the JDT. I think giving the chance for some core JDT committers to present about advanced tips and tricks in the JDT is "a good thing".

  2. Go through the other talks and let me know if anything else should be considered (anything not marked as 'on-the-fence'). This can include projects that are listed above (for example, which scala talk should be on-the-fence). I don't think we need one from each project, but let's make sure we consider this.
Cheers,
Ian
