Hi Eike,
Sorry, I'm still working on being able to run the meeting, talk, listen and take notes. I'd like to think I'm getting a bit better :-).
We talked about 3 things today:
1. We reviewed (and finalized) the Call for Participation. There were some good comments, but in general we settled on the categories. Ian S. was making the final tweaks to the CfP. It should be ready to go out for our Oct 1 deadline (it may go our earlier). If you have any further comments / concerns, feel free to comment here.
2. We talked about Keynote speakers. We came up with a short list (5) to start with. Our number 1 (and 2) choices are for a talk on Arduino and the CTO of RedHat (to talk about Open Source culture and possibly the business of Open Source). Ian explained this better than me. After that, we listed someone from NASA, Grady Booch and a leader in the Web Community (someone driving the future of the Web such as IanĀ Hickson).
3. We then discussed the need for the PC to go a recruit some invited speakers. The idea is that we should each be responsible for finding one speaker who would not normally come to EclipseCon. For example, if we want content on node.js, we should invite a recognized expert on node.js. Don't invite the speakers yet, because we will need some agreement on this. Ideally they will be guaranteed a spot.
The call was actually a little shorter because of a power outage at Eclipse.org.
Can anybody think of anything else?
Cheers,
Ian
