Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] keynote update

I would be happy to ask Zach Holman, he is an amazing speaker.

Someone from Twitter (or Square) would be great too, I agree reaching out to Chris would be helpful in that search.

I have to say I'm really warming up to the 25-30 minute keynote idea. It must be the influence of TED, but browsing around looking for good talks in the past month, I have hardly seen a single talk longer than 30 minutes, and 20 minutes is much more common.

What if we asked github and twitter to each do a 30 minute keynote on how the build software?

GitHub would certainly be good. They're a pretty exciting place these days.

Another place to look might be twitter. They are doing some pretty cool things with large scale deployments of the JVM and integrating a Web, Mobile and Desktop strategy. I don't think we should get Chris (that would be a little to insular), but he might be able to help us get in contact with someone else.

cheers,

Another idea... having someone from GitHub talking about their development process. I was reading this week about how they are shipping new versions of a Windows application roughly every 5 days. A lot of developers would really love to know how they do that ;)

A brief update on the keynotes:

-          Rob Pike declined

-          Tim Berners-Lee did not respond

-          Jeff Norris did not respond

-          Kevlin Henny was already booked

I will ping Jeff again but we do need to generate some more ideas.
