Re: [eclipsecon-na-program-committee] Early Bird Proposal
|
I am tied up all day at a face to face meeting but I *should* be able to step away to attend the meeting today. I think the 5 talks look good. If we decide to not go with KINECT talk then I would prefer the C/C++ tutorial. I agree with Gunner that we will have a set of newbies at every conference and need the intro level tutorials at each conference.

[eclipsecon-na-program-committee] Early Bird Proposal |
Hey gang,
I think the voting went very well and we have a pretty good start on things. Here is my proposal for the 5 early bird. Please, if you see any that are better, fire them at us and we can discuss on the list and at the meeting tomorrow.
First here’s the criteria I used:
- Anything after talk 184 is ignored, the last talk submitted on Friday.
- Looked at highest average vote first (that gets us the top 4)
- Each speaker only gets one
- Each topic, i.e., Xtext and Eclipse 4, only get one
- Only considered talks with two or more 5 votes and an average > 4.
- Pick one that meet this criteria and is nicely marketable
So here we go.
1) (59) OSGI on Rails (Gilles and Dr. Steffan)
2) (23) Eclipse 4 Application Platform explained (Tom Schindl)
3) (123) Xtext success story at Google (Alex Ruiz)
4) (127) Language Tooling in Orion (Simon and John)
5) (116) KINECT once again with your Eclipse IDE (Jonas Helming)
The last one is probably the most contentious one. The Assholes one probably ranks higher, but I’m not sure we want to have it on the front page for the next 3 weeks while we close on the rest. But I’d like to hear all y’all’s opinion on that. Ian has mentioned he’s already thinking of some other activities around the KINECT thing so having it hear might be over doing it. Also, the C/C++ IDE tutorial is also ranked highly, but they gave the same tutorial last year so I only gave it a 4. Code Recommenders?
At any rate, let the debate begin J.
