[eclipse.org-requirements-council] Agenda for Dec. 13th Meeting
|
All,
Here is what I would like to propose for the meeting on Tuesday, December
13th. Comments and feedback would be appreciated.
Due to a change in the scheduling for the Board meeting, I will
unfortunately not be able to attend the meeting. Ian Skerrett will chair the
meeting on my behalf. Bjorn will be there for the morning.
I believe that our focus should be to exit December's meeting with a
close-to-complete draft of the 2006 Themes and Priorities. If you recall, in
our last meeting we agreed that this time around we would like to provide
more guidance on priorities as well as themes.
We have collected bug reports that allow us to track the execution on
certain themes at a higher degree of precision than in past years.
We have agreed that we would like to retain the same themes as last year, so
starting from the previous version of the document makes sense to me.
To refresh your memory, the themes are:
* Appealing to the Broader Community
* Design for Extensibility: Be a Better Platform
* Embedded Development
* Enable Consistent Multi-language Support
* Enterprise Ready
* Rich Client Platform
* Scaling Up
* Simple to Use
Originally, I was hoping that we could split up into a number of breakout
sessions. Unfortunately, the hotel has no additional meeting rooms
available. Accordingly what I would like to suggest that we identify for
each theme a leader, and that person guides the group through a re-edit of
the theme description for the 2006 document. Arriving at the meeting with
some edits or at least a strong opinion would be helpful.
Based on the inputs that we've received to date, I would like to propose the
following leaders for each theme:
* Appealing to the Broader Community: Philip Ma
* Design for Extensibility: Be a Better Platform: John Kellerman
* Embedded Development: Melissa Traynor
* Enable Consistent Multi-language Support: Bjorn Freeman-Benson (who
recently chaired the Multi-Language Symposium)
* Enterprise Ready: Anurag Gupta
* Rich Client Platform: Ian Skerrett
* Scaling Up: Martin Klaus
* Simple to Use: Paul Clenahan
