Hi everyone,
As you have probably noticed, we have severe problems with the Eclipse foundations infrastructure:
https://www.eclipse.org/lists/eclipse.org-committers/msg01493.html
This prevents or heavily complicates development for many of us, and we do not even have I-Builds for the Eclipse SDK for around 1.5 weeks now. The Eclipse Foundation infrastructure team cannot give any estimates about
when relevant services like the Jenkins instances will be available again yet.
We are in M2 week for SimRel and no matter when infrastructure will be available again, this may affect the M2 contributions of many projects to SimRel (particularly including Platform), which is why Ed already created
an according issue:
https://github.com/eclipse-simrel/simrel.build/issues/815
In my opinion, we need to discuss what we should do about this. Here are some proposals:
- Delay M2: Hannes Wellmann already raised the proposal of delaying SimRel M2 for one week while keeping the subsequent deadlines the same, which I fully agree with
(https://github.com/eclipse-simrel/simrel.build/issues/815#issuecomment-2834070168). If infrastructure is not back soon (until the end of this week), we will probably
have to reevaluate at the end of this or at the beginning of next week whether one week of delay is sufficient.
- Notify about delay: Since we share the official release schedule, I propose to add information about the situation of SimRel schedule being affected by the infrastructure
issues including the delay we may currently agree on to the schedule page. I proposed an according PR for that:
https://github.com/eclipse-simrel/.github/pull/45
If we agree, I propose to also send around an information via cross-projects mailinglist
Please share know what you think about this. To keep the discussion at a central place, let’s proceed with it in the according issue:
https://github.com/eclipse-simrel/simrel.build/issues/815
Thanks,
Heiko
